I think the cultural narcissism paragraphs are a bit anglocentric. The UK is not mono cultural but the extent of which anyone cares for the other cultures is non existent. "Haggis, kilts, irn bru and freedom!!1!" is about the limit of cultural understanding from anyone not Scottish. People in the fellas are not excluded from this I'm sure you may notice if you look.

Linguistic dislocation is still very much real here, I was told off in school for using Scots words and it's often treated as a way the "uneducated" speak. Ironically, the extent of my Scottish history from school was to memorise "Wee sleekit cowrin timrous beastie o what a panics in thy breastie, thou need na start awa sae hasty wi bickering brattle, I wad be laith to rin an chase thee wi murdering pattle" for a Burns module in primary 4. It's used as some form of performance art that shouldn't ever be seen in a business setting. The same can be said for the gaelic which experienced several rather violent attempts at being stamped out and will probably never achieve use even close to Welsh or Irish again. There is certainly a problem in the UK with people looking down their nose if anyone speaks anything but the queens english.

British journalism in the UK is not even that good, the vast majority of journalists in Scotland spend their time talking about how awful it is and how much better everywhere else is. You may often hear your taxes fund Scotland! Have you ever read about the Barnett Formula? Do you even know how it works? Did you even know it was called the Barnett Formula? You may also have heard we're the drug death capital of Europe! Did you know the Scottish government has been fighting for safe consumption rooms for almost a decade? Do you know what was blocking them? Were you also aware that Scotland had a bottle return scheme? Were you aware it was scrapped? Do you know why?

You attribute things to a British Culture that seem to me to be mostly English imports, they're finally turning inward now there are so few Dominions.

I say all this to make a point and hopefully give fresh perspective so as to continue a dialog, not as a personal attack. I don't think you need a revolution to be impactful (be the change you wish to see and all that) nor do I think you necessarily have to roam far in order to experience a new culture (yall are pretty alien to me).
