Thumb muting seems like it would make life harder. I don't much fancy choking the life out the neck especially if I can just use my fatass index finger. It is radical for barre chords tho.

It's been eons since I did a song with a lot of muting but I think I just kinda rip it loosely and try not to think about it too much. The other thing to remember is that these rat bastards are running 8 gorillion compressors on their best takes all spliced or some other such trickery
